UPDATE: check this out:

Postcards, recipes, lists, birthdays, even journal pages or folder pockets can be easily
slipped into a 3-ring binder.
recipes and other index cardsI put photos of my children in a Pages format and made a book just about family life for two years. Scrap booking is a hugely popular craft, and people are very creative making these personalized memories. But what I like about Binders is that each page is protected. And my little one can enjoy her book even if her hands aren't perfectly clean!

The Binder made it so easy and fun. I used PAGES (Mac) but you can use any similar book-creating software.
How is a BINDER different from a print-on-demand BOOK of photos? Although I have composed many of those hard-bound POD books, binders are more versatile. Images and objects can fit into a Binder. In a good old regular three-ring BINDER, you can insert sleeves or pockets and get very intricate.
If you have a nice relationship with your printer, it's affordable to print your vacation pics, add your oceanside postcard collection, drawings, watercolors of the seashore, and maybe even a little seashell you picked up.
Or how about your new baby's Binder filled with a lock of hair and later, her first crayon drawing? I found this charming art as a great example of childrens' art.
